About the class:
I love how science points continuously to God our creator! It is exciting to be able to teach children about God’s creation and in that process learn more about God and His handiwork. This course will be held every other week. The science topics will be on a 3-4 year rotation. Topics will include: astronomy, botany, chemistry, human anatomy and physiology, and zoology: land animals, flying and swimming creatures. Class time will always include hands on experiments, demonstrations, and games to reinforce the learning. We will also host special events depending on the year such as a science fair or puff-mobile contest. Between class times students will be expected to complete homework. As a homeschooling mom, I know you are the educator and feel my responsibility is to provide the framework, experiments, group work, and basic knowledge to assist you in your child’s education.
The upper elementary will need to purchase the apologia textbook. It is optional for the lower elementary.
1st semester textbook: Exploring Creation with Botany by Jeannie Fulbright
2nd semester: Human Anatomy and Physiology
Students will also need a 3 ring notebook.
Lower elementary: $210/year (includes all supplies, copy fees, and room rental fees)
Upper Elementary: $220/year (includes all supplies, copy fees, and room rental fees)
The 1st semester is due the first day of class in September and the 2 nd semester is due the 1st day of 2nd semester in January unless you have worked out a different payment plan with me. About the tutor:
This will be my 3rd year teaching this class. I have taught elementary science as a public school teacher for 8 years. I have also taught this apologia curriculum in another coop when we lived in Iowa. I have my B.A. and M.A. in elementary education. My husband and I have always homeschooled our 6 children. I feel blessed to be able to do what I love to do with my children and I enjoy the opportunity to share my love of teaching with others.
