Great Inventors and Their Inventions

This is a One semester class, but will be offered both 1st semester & 2nd semester- Grades 4th– 8th

Class Description

This class will take a look at great inventors and their inventions.  The students will learn about many different inventors like Gutenberg, Fulton, Whitney, Farnsworth and more, plus all their inventions and how they affected our lives.  There will be hands – on lessons with activities and reading.  Each student will create a “lap book” displaying their knowledge of the core concepts presented in class.

Course Requirements

  • An excitement to learn
  • Participate in class discussion
  • A willingness to cut, fold, and create
  • Complete out of class reading and book reports
  • Vocabulary homework
  • Present your lap book to others

Required Supplies

  • Scissors
  • Crayons, colored pencils
  • Glue
  • Tape

Grading

I will grade the students on their lap book for completeness and neatness.  I will also be giving some quizzes and a final test.  These tests may be written but mostly done in a game type fun format.

Cost

  • $175 – class fee
  • $15 material fee due upon registration and is not refundable
  • 50% refund of class fee if dropped within 4 weeks from the start of class

Tutor

I have been married to my husband, Brian, for thirty-two years.  We have homeschooled our twelve children for twenty-six years and eight of them have graduated from high school.  The Lord Jesus is my savior and the purpose of my life.  I enjoy running, playing games, music, reading, coffee, and family.  I am also a certified doula.  I love learning about history and look forward to teaching this class and learning more along with the students.
